What did the Ancient Chinese make porceailn out of?

Porcelin is the third kind of potery the Ancient Chinese made over time. China is most famous for its porcelain. It is very popular all over China.The Ancient Chinese traded porcelain. The Ancient Chinese made porcelain from white clay. They mixed in grinded up rock. Then they heated it.

    Why did they put grinded rocks in the clay? Did it make the porcelain stronger?
